I scream, you scream — you know how it goes. July is National Ice Cream Month, and there’s no better excuse to treat yourself. Whether it’s a backyard cone, a midnight bowl, or a float on a hot afternoon, this is the month to enjoy it.

Here’s a bit of trivia for your next cookout: nobody knows exactly who invented ice cream, but the earliest versions go all the way back to Emperor Nero’s Rome (A.D. 54–68), when ice and snow were hauled down from the mountains and sweetened with honey. Alexander the Great is said to have done the same with nectar. Twenty centuries later, we’ve upgraded the freezer situation considerably.

Cool off with an old favorite or be brave and try something new — stop by and grab a pint (or three) this week.
